Rotterdam has a new icon: Market Hall Rotterdam. At a historic location on the Binnenrotte, next to Blaak station and Rotterdam's largest weekly open-air market for fresh food and hardware, the Netherlands' first covered market was realised.

Markthal includes a huge market floor on the ground floor under an archway of flats. Its shape, colourful interior and height make Markthal a unique spectacle. Unique is not only the shape and size, but especially the way the different functions are combined. The combination of an apartment complex with a fresh market with food shops, restaurants, a supermarket and an underground car park cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
